About The Mix Radio
The Mix Radio is a youth station that plays a mix of primarily new, 'cutting edge' and credible/recent chart music with phone-ins and information targetting 15-29s in the UK and around the World.
The Mix Radio's playlist is a mix of dance, urban, alternative and credible chart music. Our mainstream music is primarily dance/urban and we play specialist dance music often not heard on commercial radio from Europe at the weekends.
We love new music, breaking songs in mainstream programming before anyone else. The Aaron Linstead evening show tends to be the first place to hear new music not heard on commercial radio or any other internet radio station. He has recently introduced The Mix Radio and its listeners to unsigned artists Laura Steel, Tiggzy, Christian Jules and Brooke Scher to name but a few. Laura Steel and Brooke Scher are releasing their songs to iTunes and Laura has recently been touring the UK to promote her single 'Feedback'.
The Mix Radio is a voluntary organisation meaning everyone you hear on the station presenting or running the station work for free, for the love of radio and for the love of the listeners and the music. Their commitment is paid back in spades by the listeners who once on board tend to stick to the station.
Programme highlights this year:
- In March, Denzil Lacey joined Chris Tait on the then morning show 'Chris's Daily Dose' on St. Patrick's Day to have a chat about the day's celebrations happening in Dublin. In June, Denzil also got featured in a newspaper article for the Bray People about his work on The Mix Radio and the news about him joining Irish radio station RTE 2 FM.
- In April, Nathan Dawe played the first single from an online musician Austin Burke
- In August, Mark & Tom broadcast live from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where they had interviews from Abandonman and Popcorn Comedy. Tom also got featured on the BBC Comedy website getting covered in Yakult.
- Also in August, Aaron Linstead played new music from unsigned artists Laura Steel, Brooke Scher and Christian Jules. Laura & Brooke's singles made it on to The Mix Radio's main playlist whilst Christian Jules and his management have made The Mix Radio, the first station to premiere Christian Jules' debut single in September 2010.
